Surplus CAG Glock .40 S&W 16 Round Extended Magazine FDE (Austria)

When CAG (Combat Applications Group AKA Delta Force) transitioned from customized 1911 pistols to Glock pistols during the mid to late-2000s, operators needed an easy way to distinguish .40 S&W magazines from 9mm Glock magazines used by the unit. The solution was specially colored magazines or magazine components (depending on the production run), the end result being Factory .40 cal FDE magazines with factory +2 extensions of the same color. This was done to address the following issues:

• Rapid visual identification of caliber.
• Prevention of mixing 9mm and .40 magazines during training and operations.
• Easier logistics when units were running both calibers simultaneously.

Of special note that both non ambi, gen3 mags, and later the ambi, gen 4 mags, were issued.
