Surplus AN/ANVIS-9 (F4949) Night Vision
These AN/AVS-9 (F4949) Were originally designed for use in fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft using dual tubes aiding pilots and on board flight crew with better visual awareness, this particular set is no longer flight certified.
"Anvis" goggles were quickly adapted for ground use by SOF units due to the better awareness they offered operators and superior optics: Aviation lenses and tubes are held to higher standards than ground units. Anvis goggles also offered the benefit of being lighter and less complicated than other ground NV units. When flipped up Anvis goggles turn off and when flipped down they power up due to receiving power from the aviation style ball detent mount, no on or off switch, no onboard IR lights, meaning no unintentional light ND's from tubes or accessory IR lights. This particular model came with painted optics pods and a black Wilcox G01 F4949 ground mount (mainting the standard Anvis flip up/down on/off function) with the battery module installed, does not come with the Lemo port module for remote battery packs. Anvis goggles have been used by 75th Ranger Regiment, Army SF, various Airforce SOF units, and most notably, and widely, used by 1st SFOD D from Mogadishu to the streets of Iraq.
